Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is a seven-member board which assists the local elected officials in developing the goals, policies and programs for future development of the local neighborhoods and community. They set goals and objectives for a community's future physical development and help the community attain its goals by reviewing and approving land development proposals. Terms are for three years, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Meetings are twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and such other times as the Planning Commission may determine.
Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment consists of five members who are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Each member of the Board of Adjustment shall serve for a term of five (5) years and/or until his/her successor is appointed. Meetings of the Board of Adjustment shall be held at the call of the Chairman and at such other times as the Board may determine. The Board of Adjustment hears appeals by any person who may be aggrieved or by any officer, department, board or bureau of the municipality affected by any decision of the administrative officer.
Historic Sites Committee
The Centerville Historic Sites Committee consists of five (5) - seven (7) members and meets on a monthly basis. Committee members help with various projects preserving the history of the city. The Committee helps plan and direct the activities scheduled during the annual Historic Preservation Week each May. Committee terms are for three (3) years, and appointment is made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.
Whitaker Museum Board
The Whitaker Museum Board consists of five (5) regular members who shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council to act as an advisory board to the City Council regarding facilities, programs and policies for the administration and operation of the Thomas Whitaker Home Museum. Terms of appointment are staggered terms of three (3) years and may be shorter than three (3) years when necessary to provide staggered terms. The Board may hold meetings at such times as the Board determines is necessary.
Parks and Recreation Committee
The Parks and Recreation Committee consists of not more than seven (7) members but no less thatn five (5) who act as an advisory body to the City Council by providiing support, guidance and planning for development of parks and recreation opportunties for Centerville residents. Terms of appointment are staggered terms of three (3) years and may be shorter than three (3) years when necessary to provide staggered terms. One member of the Parks and Recreation Committee will be the Chair of the Trails Committee. The committee generally meets monthly.
Trails Committee
The Trails Committee consists of not more than seven (7) but no less than five (5) members who act as advisory committee to the City Council to recommend and promote the establishment of public trails and related facilities, programs and policies to meet recreational needs of the citizens of Centerville City. Terms of appointment are staggered terms of three (3) years and may be shorter than three (3) years when necessary to provide staggered terms. The Chair of the Trails Committee shall also be a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee. The committee generally meets monthly.
